The Law Society 400 year anniversary
DREAM.
Meet Emma. Managing Director for All in All Events and in charge of organising an event at the ICC on behalf of The Law Society who were celebrating their 400 year anniversary. Emma had heard about our high quality entertainment experiences and was looking for ‘wow’.
The brief? A surprise show for 1000 guests. With an aerial spectacular dropping down from the ceiling. A brief that had us spinning with ideas…
DARE.
We began exploring ways to create this highly impactful surprise with the limited rigging options available. Although the venue wouldn’t allow for us to rig aerialists from the ceiling, we had a few other ideas up our silks!
We devised a group ensemble piece on the ground, which would serve as a visual feast and distraction for guests, drawing their attention to the ground. Meanwhile, the aerial silks were rigged to integrate with the set, so unsuspecting guests would simply see the long white drapes as a frame for the stage.
The piece, inspired by geodes and gemstones was directed by Zaq Andel and themed around a hardened shell cracking open to reveal sparkling gemstones inside. Each costume had to be made from scratch to reflect Zaq’s incredible designs.
DAZZLE.
The performance began with the performers dressed in brilliant white coats, which when opened, revealed a reflective interior that shot beams of light around the room.
Underneath, costumes were adorned with hundreds of coloured crystals, catching the light and creating a mesmerising sparkle. As the ensemble came to a close, the lights went out and a huge rumble shook the room (masking the aerialists who ascended nimbly in the dark, ready for their moment).
A loud CRACK! flooded the room with light, revealing a bejewelled gradient of colour surrounding four white 10m silks. Cue gasps and whispers from the audience…
…then as the music started, the aerialists dropped from the ceiling. A beautiful aerial routine followed, finishing with a final gasping drop, met with a huge roar from the audience.
The performance was electrifying. All in All Events (and the Law Society) were delighted with the show and the concealed element of surprise which made the evening so special.
“The performance was great and definitely the impact we wanted! I look forward to working with you again soon.” Emma Larkin, All-in-all events.
“We were really thrilled to work so closely with Zest on the lighting design, which really helped intensify the impact of our performance.” Zaq Andel, Circus Mash Director
